Foundation Objectives

The Foundation's Objectives are as follow:

  • to promote public interest in the history, traditions and culture of the Niagara District;
  • to preserve, restore, build, maintain, encourage or assist in the preservation, restoration, rebuilding and maintenance of buildings, structures and sites for historical and cultural purposes in the said area;
  • to make, collect and preserve photographs, drawings, documents, descriptions and other records of such buildings, structures and sites and of the design, erection, alteration, ownership, occupation, use and history thereof;
  • to erect signs, plaques and inscriptions and otherwise identify, describe and commemorate such buildings, structures and sites;
  • to acquire by purchase, grant, lease, licence, gift, devise, bequest or other title such buildings, structures, sites or any rights or interest therein and any real or personal property and rights and privileges necessary or convenient for or calculated, directly or indirectly, to facilitate the attainment of all or any of the objects of the Foundation and to hold, manage, regulate, sell, exchange, lease, licence or otherwise dispose of or deal with the same;
  • to hold, stage, conduct or sponsor plays, pageants, parades, concerts, fairs, festivals and other entertainment;
  • to conduct and/or assist or contribute to research of the history, traditions and culture of the said area, and to print or publish and/or assist or contribute to printing or publishing books, pamphlets, brochures or other publications relating thereto;
  • to erect, maintain and operate and/or assist or contribute to the erection, maintenance or operation of a museum or museums in the said area;
  • to enter into any arrangements for co-operation, reciprocal concession or other union, sharing or exchange of interests with any person, associations or corporations owning buildings, structures and sites aforesaid or having objects wholly or partly the same as or similar to those of the Foundation or capable of being carried out so as, directly or indirectly, to facilitate the attainment of all or any of the objects of the Foundation and to lend money to, guarantee the contracts, or engagements of or otherwise assist such persons, associations or corporations, to acquire securities from such persons, associations or corporations and to hold, assign, transfer, pledge or otherwise dispose of or deal with the same;
  • to establish and support or assist in the establishment and support of associations, corporations, institutions, funds, trusts and other conveniences calculated, directly or indirectly, to facilitate the attainment of all or any of the objects of the Foundation;
  • to apply to the Legislature of Ontario or any public municipal corporation or authority in the Province of Ontario for any legislation, regulation, by-law, right or privilege, calculated directly or indirectly, to facilitate the attainment of all or any of the objects of the Foundation;
  • to draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, execute and issue promissory notes, bills of exchange, bills of lading, warrants and other negotiable or transferable instruments or securities;
  • to enter into arrangements with any public authority, federal, provincial, municipal commission or otherwise and with any persons or corporations that may seem conducive to the objects of the Foundation and to obtain from them any rights, privileges or concessions; and
  • to solicit and receive funds and contributions and to receive devises, bequests, legacies and gifts to be used for the accomplishment of the objects aforesaid.
